What is the Difference Between Botox® and Other Neuromodulators?
Botox® was the first formula developed and popularized for cosmetic use. However, it is quite similar to other injectable neuromodulator treatments. At Savannah Plastic Surgery, we also offer Dysport®, which contains the same active ingredient as Botox® (known as botulinum toxin). The only difference between these two formulas is that Dysport® contains no other ingredients. Many patients will notice no difference between the two treatments. However, some patients develop a level of tolerance to the Botox® formula, and this is often due to the inactive ingredients in Botox®. For these patients, we may recommend Dysport® as a more effective alternative.
What Are the Botox® and Dysport® Treatments Like?
The injection process is the same for both Dysport® and Botox®. Before treatment, the skin will be numbed to minimize any discomfort that may occur during the injection process. Once the skin is prepared, the appropriate formula will be injected into and around the desired treatment area, relaxing the muscles responsible for your facial wrinkles. This is a brief process, and the full treatment takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
