Belly Button Repair

|

beach-friends-600.jpgIs yours an innie, or an outie?

We're talking belly buttons, and even if you used to have an innie, there are several reasons your belly button may have changed.

Weight loss, pregnancy, an umbilical hernia, and even some laparoscopic surgeries can lead to a stretched out navel with an undefined shape, surrounded by loose skin.

If your belly button is keeping you from sporting a bikini or crop top this summer, we can help.

One option is a tummy tuck. For many women, as pregnancy stretches their bellies, the muscles of the abdomen must flatten and separate to make room. This can lead to an umbilical hernia. With a tummy tuck, your surgeon can reposition and reshape the belly button, while also removing loose skin and tightening the abdominal muscles.

If you don't need a tummy tuck but just want to fix an "outie," you might be a good candidate for umbilicoplasty. This surgical procedure addresses only the skin surrounding the belly button, and can sometimes be done through the belly button with no scar.

If you just need a little bit of tightening around your belly button, you might consider fractional laser resurfacing. This non-surgical procedure uses a laser to stimulate new collagen production and can tighten the skin.

If you're not sure which procedure is best for you, make a consultation with one of our physicians. We can go over all the options, and have you back in a bikini this summer.
