When breast cancer is detected early, the survival rate is very high. That’s why routine examinations are so important. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we can link you to some great tools for fighting breast cancer.
“I just don’t want to know.”
“I’m too busy to make an appointment.”
“No one else in my family had breast cancer, so I’m sure I’m fine.”
There are a lot of reasons people avoid mammograms or even monthly self breast exams. But the fact is, breast cancer affects a lot of men and women, and if you catch it early you have a much higher chance of surviving this disease. You owe it to yourself and the ones you love to take care of your breast health.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation has great tools to help you develop an Early Detection Plan. Visit www.earlydetectionplan.org to begin.
If you are a breast cancer survivor and interested in breast reconstruction, our surgeons will be glad to speak with you. Just contact us to set up a consultation.
Talk to your doctor about a mammogram, perform monthly self exams, and encourage your friends and family to do the same – not just in October, but all year long!
