Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Savannah, GA
The eyes are often the first features of the face to reveal signs of aging. At Savannah Plastic Surgery, our blepharoplasty procedures can help diminish these signs of aging and restore a youthful look to the eyes. We welcome patients from Savannah and the neighboring cities of Chatham County, GA.
What is a Blepharoplasty?
A blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a facial surgery technique that is used to rejuvenate the eyelids. Over time, the eyelids begin to droop due to the gradual effect of gravity on the skin. For many patients, the primary concern is that this can create a tired or weathered appearance. For some, however, the drooping of the eyelids can impair the vision. If you are experiencing either of these difficulties because of the eyelids, a blepharoplasty is the perfect solution. The eyelid surgery procedure trims excess skin from the eyelids to restore youthfulness to the eyes, often taking years off of the appearance in the process. This technique can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both eyelids, depending on your treatment needs.
How Much Does a Blepharoplasty Cost?
The cost of a blepharoplasty at Savannah Plastic Surgery can range from $2,950 to $5,500. The exact cost of your treatment will depend on variables that include your treatment goals and the extent of treatment necessary to achieve those results. During your consultation, we will discuss these factors in order to develop a personalized treatment plan and provide you with the exact cost of treatment. We can also determine your eligibility for health insurance coverage at this time. What is the Blepharoplasty Treatment Like?
The blepharoplasty procedure is performed in our surgicenter and begins with using the appropriate anesthetic, ensuring that our patients receive a safe and comfortable treatment. The next step of treatment involves making incisions in the eyelids. For this step, incisions are made within the natural folds of the eyelids, where they will be well-concealed following treatment. Through these incisions, we will remove excess skin and fat to produce the desired appearance. We can also redistribute fat to further contour the area around the eyes. After one to two hours of surgery, the incision will be closed and the treatment will be complete.
What is the Blepharoplasty Recovery Like?
After a blepharoplasty procedure, it is common to experience bruising, swelling, and blurred vision for several days after treatment. Patients will need someone to drive them home. You will need to take some time off of work and other activities for at least a week, as we recommend resting the eyes as much as possible in the days following surgery. Most symptoms resolve within two weeks of treatment, and you can expect to return to your usual activities.
What Blepharoplasty Results Can I Expect?
Some results from the blepharoplasty procedure will be noticeable immediately, but the full results will not be visible until the swelling and other side effects subside. Once the eyelid surgery procedure is performed, the results are permanent. However, the natural aging process will continue to affect the eyelids and other parts of the face.
