Dr. Barbara Davies was recently featured in Savannah Magazine, where she describes her motivation to be a plastic surgeon. The following article appeared in a recent issue of Savannah Magazine:
Dr. Davies is a board certified plastic surgeon, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and has been practicing plastic surgery since 1991. She attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia for medical school, completed her five-year general surgery program at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, and did her two year plastic surgery residency at Ohio State University Hospitals. She is a member of AOA honor society, the Hobart Amory Hare honor society, and has been listed in multiple years of America’s Top Surgeons, America’s Top Cosmetic Surgeons, and multiple varieties of Who’s Who. She is a partner in Savannah Plastic Surgery and has served as Managing Partner (including over-seeing the design and build-out of the new building at their current location), the Surgicenter Director, the Savvy Skin Medical Aesthetics Director, and is currently the Marketing Director for the practice. She has also been a lecturer at the national meeting of Skin Care Specialists and has published several articles.
Through the years, Dr. Davies’ practice has slowly transitioned to an emphasis on cosmetic surgery, breast surgery and skin cancer, although she still enjoys the challenges of a broad spectrum practice. She notes that cosmetic surgery has become very acceptable these days as television makes it almost common-place. “It’s really about self-esteem and self-image, not vanity,” says Dr. Davies. “If there is one thing that is really bothering a person; and I have a procedure that can eliminate that problem, it’s delightful to be able to change someone’s life for them. I feel very honored when someone chooses me as their surgeon, and I work very hard to make them happy.” Dr. Davies is very proud of her staff and the new facility. “People often tell me what a wonderful experience their surgery was…from their first phone call to the final visit.” she says.
Dr. Davies and her partners are well aware that the current economy makes it harder for people to pursue their dreams of plastic surgery. She notes that they offer significant surgery discounts and special financing to help people meet their goals. Other economical alternatives include the use of fillers and botox (smaller procedures by physicians) or a visit to the Savvy Skin Medical Aesthetics where the licensed estheticians can treat, refresh, and rejuvenate your skin. Savannah Plastic Surgery is also pleased to offer yoga, personal training and cosmetic dentistry — all under one roof.
