Many of our cosmetic surgery patients are interested in having more than one procedure done. For those Mommy Makeover clients, perhaps a tummy tuck is needed along with a breast lift. Or perhaps you are considering both a face lift and eyelid surgery.
The question we often hear is, can multiple procedures be performed at the same time? The question is understandable - most patients want to complete their body makeover as quickly and efficiently as possible. Also, if surgeries can be done at the same time, it may be easier to schedule time off of work, or arrange to have a friend or family member help during recovery.
The answer really depends on your unique situation. If the affected areas are in close proximity, it may be reasonable to operate on both of them during the same surgery. For example, a nose job and chin implant can often be done at the same time.
Time is another factor - how much time can the patient safely tolerate anesthesia, and how much time can the patient take for recovery?
Your age and overall health may impact how long you can safely be kept under anesthesia. For a young woman undergoing a mommy makeover, a longer surgery session may be acceptable. But for an older patient needing multiple procedures, it may be safer to spread them out over more than one session of anesthesia.
As for recovery time, if you only have one week you can take off from work, then you may need to stick to just one surgery. But if you can take two weeks to recover, then it may be possible to combine more surgeries into a single session. In summary, it is possible for some people to combine multiple procedures at once, but safety has to be the top priority. You should discuss your options with one of our surgeons to determine the best, safest way to achieve the results you desire.
